Trip #2 to the Emergency room

Hey everyone
Yesterday I thought my brain was falling out of my head. I could no longer take the pain even after getting Percocets ect.. Cape Fear called and said they would want me to wait five full days before doing the blood patch, the nurse suggested I go back to Camp Lejeune Emergency room and try to get them to do it for me. At this point Im about to scream and hubby takes me to the Emergency room and the guy remembers me and says he will pull the paperwork up and gives me a blanket that I can hide under on the floor since I cannot sit up straight. For anyone that does not know, when they do a spinal tap they create a hole and it leaks out CSF and when you sit up it drains from your head causing the worst headache you will ever encounter... my migraines tickled compared to these bad boys. Anyways they call me back and a very nice Navy Doctor talks to me and tells me he will order the blood patch and also some fluids and some pain killers... I show him my arms and start laughing from all the sticks.... 12 times in two days.... also I have a new symptom that is still with me... EVERYONE SOUNDS LIKE A ROBOT my hearing is all messed up and that is from the spinal headache....

Connie Snead Registered Nurse walks in.. she has a very business look on her face... I tell her to get someone to hold me down... hubby is on the other side trying to keep me calm... BOOM first stick and she gets it!!!! I actually started crying I was so damn happy and I sent her some flowers today!!! she couldnt understand why everyone else had so many problems... I think that the IV thing is a god given talent for some they hook me up to a Caffeine drip/ Benadryl and some other narcotic LOL soooo anesthesia walks in... tells me about the blood patch , sign all the paperwork and we get ready to do it.... he does NOT numb my back up good enough and Im laying against hubby while another wonderful nurse is talking me through it and I turn white and half way pass out and tell him to STOP.. I cant take the pain...I was not suppose to be feeling all of that but no way no thanks I cant take it!!!! he apologizes and asks if I want to lay down to do it.. I told him thats what I thought he was going to do in the first place... I told him no thanks... the doctor sent me home with Dalater (sp) WOHOOO awesome drugs LOL and I laid around all day today and DID NOTHING flat on my back, no pillows no nothing and my headache seems to be fading away quickly!!!! now I have a very sore back from the big huge epidural needles and thats got me in pain but I thank everyone for there prayers and support because It got me through this so far!!!!!! I leave on Friday for Hubbys motorcycle race up in West Virginia and then Im off to Disneyworld on Monday morning for five days.. thanks everyone for your wonderful emails and private messages..... Im going to go lay back down now as Im scared to sit up for too long hugs to everyone and YES Im working on getting more water down

I love you guys!!

Darcie, I am so glad you were able to get that blood patch and are on your way to feeling better.  Take it easy as much as you can between now and when you leave for your outings.  Push the fluids and caffeine and take care of you.

Hi Pam
I was unable to take the pain from the blood patch so the procedure was stopped. I do feel a lot better today and hope that this all clears up real soon thanks for caring

Holy cow, Darcie!  I'm off the boards for a couple weeks and come back to learn about this?!?!?!?  I'm sooooooooooooo sorry that this has been going on with you and am keeping everything I have crossed in hopes that your pain is gone forever.  Poor you!  Hope you're up to the motorcycle race and DisneyWorld -- or that they're up to you!   Feel better soon, sugarbeet.  You're awesome.
